Thalassophobia

The ocean takes a bow
And then comes the saltwater beast,
Bundling the earth with its paws
Before baring its fangs
And releasing the flood.

Its prowl went beyond the horizon,
From uncharted territory, it would make its own.
Here it leaves its marks,
In excess, of course.
Unbridled love is akin to wrath.

You hold your arms up in protest,
Your embrace like restraints,
Hooks forcing the sea to its stomach,
Its back lay rare before you.
“Come here,” a whisper,

And the waves stopped and the sea became still.
