This Is A Portfolio

I woke up feeling murky. A world is a nest and I was waiting to be fed. My feathers were starting to settle in and I realized I knew this, because for the first time in my life, my eyes were open. Every sensation was there to be seen, felt, and known. I was a baby bird. I was alive for several days and in two weeks I would be on my own. My tomorrow was not promised. But it’s fine. I’m alive. Until then, my mother will feed me worms, my plumage will become beautiful, and the skies will wait for me. The sun winked and I chirped meekly. I’m hungry, mother. How much longer?
