It’s pointless, Expecting an ember to suddenly catch ablaze; As soon as it hits the ground, The spark lost its life and became ash. An often banal observation, But even dust can inspire So why not just receive it for now? You can let it go later. I am tired. The world revolves around me still. I’ll desert this disquiet, Mow the pastures of my mind until only earth remains. I need a better fertilizer, Not this bullshit. I want to think all green and hazy Like an amorphous forest. Trees unlike trees, Leaves unlike leaves, Grass unlike grass, Disquiet unlike disquiet. Unrecognizable, But still distinctly me; A novel shape with a well-defined core. A new landscape has been made. I step into it, quickly turning back to see behind me, But of course, it was already gone. I knew that, I knew this would make it final. I had to see it to that. I still won’t forget it even though the vestiges vanished, But beauty, ephemeral as it is, is also so abundant. Something within me is so beautiful it saved me And I take a rocket ship to the next planet. -k.r.r.
