A worry came over me
As if this had all been a farce
Like I had been looking too deeply
And was pulled into blackened water
And what emerged from a moonlit space
Not me but a creature
Who wielded my voice
To use words unlike mine
And made a big showing
To convince itself of its disguise
Until enough time passed by
And even it became convinced
So much so it feared itself
But I looked to the moon
And saw it wore a different face
And recognized it to be mine
Which soothed my unease
And I surrendered my doubts
Which only held a false claim
And only this is true:
As with every being
I am to become
