Will you take these failings of mine
As not a mark or a stain
And my name not as a device
To besmirch or shame
As if your tongue recoils to even speak it
But instead accept me wholly
For all a man is
And these hands that tremble before you?
These are thoughts that materialize as I stand
Over a sunny lake with water like a crystal glare
And I’m with you,
I’m just so tired.
The clouds roll in before we know it
And they take you with them,
Or so it felt;
We both know we can’t escape each other
But it’s dark now and it’s time to leave.
I’ve casted you off,
But it didn’t matter.
I’ve been supplanted again
By a man who wears
My clothes,
My face.
