The Personification of a Shape Sorting Box

I have loved you before.
It wasn’t just a chance encounter.
I gazed upon you then,
Your smile brilliant like a summer afternoon on a Saturday
And my heart began to bend.
I didn’t know what that meant before,
How could a heart ever bend?
But it took a new form, molded itself
Into a new shape
And I understood,
It’s the perfect fit for yours.

I must have loved you before.
I see you here,
But you’ve always been there
Haven’t you?
How could I know so intimately
The shape of your heart,
The timbre of your laugh,
The warmth of your hands?
All so perfectly crafted
Like a hearth from the gods
Made to complete a home.

If I could cast my light upon you,
I hope to capture your beauty in its fullness
So that others may understand
How captured I am;
I’ve never seen a dream come alive!
I’ll place my heart into you.
I won’t have to worry,
It’s finally home,
The safest place it’s ever been,
Let it rest.
